Green Belt
Local Plan Consultation - Draft Allocation Policies
Policies H1, H2, H3, H4, H6, H7, H30, H31 & H32
Basildon council is proposing to release huge swathes of the Green Belt for development.
To meet the 28,000 housing target over 2,000 hectares of Green belt will be lost forever to deliver around 16,000 of the total. That’s over 2,000 football pitches. All of it is currently productive farmland.
The farmland the housing will occupy is like building another new town within the borough as big as Billericay or Wickford.
Around Billericay the proposed development allocations are covered by policies H1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 30, 31 & 33 (there is no H5). You may also wish to consider the development allocations at Noak Bridge and Steeple View under policies H12, 22 & 26. They will have an impact on Billericay too. See map below.
At a minimum, please simply object to these site policies in the Local Plan consultation by emphasising that they are Green Belt and agricultural land. If you know more about a particular site then please add your own observations. Local knowledge is important to emphasise.
You can comment on each of the sites from the home page of the consultation.
