The level of large scale housing development approved and being proposed around Billericay is unsustainable.
Not only is it considerably more than local need dictates, with no guarantees on new schools, doctors, dentists, roads and other key services, it will create massive problems for existing and any new residents. Quality of life will suffer.
As our latest maps below show, as of today (10 September 2025), 1,454 houses have been approved with a further 417 awaiting a planning application decision. But the biggest impact will come from the 4,625 houses that are being proposed but have yet to get to a planning application. That's 6,496 new houses in total!
Those figures are for the three district wards of Billericay West, East and Burstead and include Dunton Road as that area now comes within Burstead ward. If you add in the developments at Noak Bridge in Crouch ward right on our doorstep the total is 7,196.
It's madness!
