Commenting on a Planning Application
Should you wish to object or comment on a planning application these guidelines may be of assistance.
Basildon council prefers comments to be made via its online planning portal and we would encourage this approach. However, it is possible to comment via email or letter, as we have shown below.

Comment
If you are not logged on already, go to the website page as above and log in.
Once logged on, a page similar to this will appear. Click the Search button to find the application you are interested in. We have blanked out personal details in this example.
Open the application by clicking on it. A screen like this appears now showing the Make a Comment button.
That button will open a new page and towards the bottom the first field to complete is Commenter Type.
If you have received a letter from the council advising you of a planning application near to where you live, select Neighbour Consultation, otherwise select General Public.
The next field is Stance. Select Object, Support or Neutral. We assume that you will select Object!
For Reason for Comment select Green Belt and any of the other items you feel are appropriate.
Insert any Comments you wish to make. Tip - it might be best to write these in another programme, such a Word, and cut & paste into here. Please try to be factual, not overly emotive, non-political and don't simply say build somewhere else!
Finally click Submit. Don't forget to do this!
You will receive an email with a confirmation copy of your comments.
