Why do we need funding?
It is becoming increasingly clear that the only chance that the people of Billericay will be directly and impartially advised of the full facts about the Basildon District Plan is through the Billericay Action Group, whether it is protecting the surrounding countryside or preventing population growth that we cannot realistically sustain on many fronts. Thus far we have managed to operate mostly through our own personal resources, but we now need your help. Our efforts are totally voluntary but establishing and maintaining contact with local people involves a monetary cost.
As our profile raises, not least by enabling over 1,000 responses to the initial consultation on the district plan and the recent election of Adam Adshead to the Town Council, we are becoming subject to predictable media attacks from local politicians. We cannot allow disinformation about our impartial approach to this subject to distract local people from the facts. It follows that we shall need to more regularly communicate with a growing number of local people through a variety of media to maintain and increase the goodwill that we have already generated. Your financial support, no matter how small, will be put to good use in informing the people of Billericay and mobilising them to respond if and when necessary to prevent excessive unwarranted construction in our town.
