BAG is now in a position to offer residents a choice of two questionnaires for responding to the consultation:-
[1] BAG is pleased to provide Information and Guidance as well as our Detailed Questionnaire to those residents who wish to consider the main points of our concerns about the Draft Local Plan. We include guidance on how to present your views and a synopsis of the main issues as presented to the Town Meeting we hosted. If you would like to download this documentation and respond with our two page questionnaire, please use the link on the right to download your copy.

[2] Our ‘Quick Questionnaire’ continues to be popular at our events. It is also available as a downloadable document. If you wish to respond using this document please use the link on the right to download your copy.
In either case please use your local knowledge to provide Basildon Council and the Planning Inspector with a realistic, knowledge-based assessment of what is proposed for our town

Simon Jenkins wrote in the Guardian recently that 500 000 sites in London that are suitable for housing developments have been identified by Stirling Ackroyd. Why are these not being developed before eating into the Green Belt? Could it be that using Green Belt land is more profitable for the developers?

I commented about an hour ago. I'd like to
withdraw that comment please, until I have checked what seems to be a preposterous statistic! Could it be one of the Guardian's misprints?

    Aims of BAG

To protect the Green Belt around Billericay and elsewhere in Basildon Borough from loss through excessive and unjustified development.

To prevent the character of our historic towns from being changed forever.

To ensure that any development that does take place is sustainable, with adequate infrastructure and prioritises local needs.

We support the need for a new Basildon Local Plan and the need for more housing. But it must be of the right number, the right type and in the right places to best help local people obtain a home of their own.
