BDRA/BAG RESPONSE TO SCI CONSULTATION

Our previous post focussed on Basildon Council's public consultation on their updated Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).

Please click the 'previous' button below to read the background on SCI but effectively it is a document that details how the Council will engage with the community and others on matters such as planning and the Local Plan.

The BDRA and BAG have now submitted a response to the consultation and as promised we are making it available here.

The consultation deadline is Wednesday 12 September so there is still time for you to make your own response. We are happy for you to follow our lead if you agree with what we have said.

We have laid out our response below page by page following the Councils format.

In addition to this formal response, The Chairman of the BDRA has written to selected Councillors and Council Officers expanding on our views and concerns. This letter can also be found below.

Aims of BAG

To protect the Green Belt around Billericay and elsewhere in Basildon Borough from loss through excessive and unjustified development.

To prevent the character of our historic towns from being changed forever.

To ensure that any development that does take place is sustainable, with adequate infrastructure and prioritises local needs.

We support the need for a new Basildon Local Plan and the need for more housing. But it must be of the right number, the right type and in the right places to best help local people obtain a home of their own.
