The local plan is in the papers again today. The Brentwood Gazette focuses on Billericay whilst the Basildon Echo considers Basildon as a whole and the justification for the local plan.

In the Gazette, Councillor Phil Turner says the council wants local people to speak up about issues surrounding the plan, "We want people to talk about roads and railways."

In the echo, Councillor Richard Moore says "it is a difficult balance between development and protecting our greenbelt as much as possible."

I have lived in Billericay for 54 of my 58 years & have seen it grow into a very busy & built up town. This I feel is not for the better but to the detriment of the village like community it once was. Further development must be stopped & green belt preserved.

    Aims of BAG

To protect the Green Belt around Billericay and elsewhere in the Borough from loss through excessive and unjustified   development.

To prevent the character of our historic town from being destroyed forever.

To ensure that any development that does take place is sustainable, with adequate infrastructure and prioritises local needs.
