Today the Billericay District Residents' Association (BDRA) launches The Four Firsts Charter as explained and set out below.
The BDRA and BAG will use these principles going forward in everything we do relative to the Basildon Local Plan. It will shape our thinking and actions as we strive to get the best outcome for Billericay; during the impending Examination in Public and further out if and when a Local Plan is finally adopted.
We will also take this approach into the informal design and planning consultation for south-west Billericay with the developer's consultants on Thursday 11 July. But we will be making it very clear from the outset that we consider the submitted Local Plan to be unsound on many levels and that we are not accepting or endorsing any housing numbers, sites or infrastructure ahead of the formal Examination in Public.
We encourage other representative bodies invited to the consultation to adopt this approach and similar principles. To accept any element of the Local Plan at this stage would be inappropriate and premature. It remains a bad plan for Billericay.
