This week marks the 740th anniversary of the Battle of Billericay in 1281 as part of the peasants revolt. It seems very apt.
As we reported recently, the Planning Inspector has asked Basildon Council to make some significant changes to the Local Plan and to hold another public consultation.
We believe this provides an ideal opportunity for a better plan and as a result the Chair of our parent organisation, The Billericay District Residents’ Association, has written to Andrew Baggott, Leader of the Council, to ask him to consider the situation and to make positive changes for the benefit of our town. The letter has also been copied to John Baron, our local MP.
We will publish any responses we receive.
The next month or so will be critical to the evolution of the Basildon Local Plan and could dictate the final outcome. Our local and national representatives should now stand up for those residents that elected them and do the right thing.
Time for the next Battle of Billericay? Time for residents to revolt?
