THE REGULATION 19 PUBLIC CONSULTATION IS NOW CLOSED

20/12/2018

The Regulation 19 public consultation on the Basildon Local Plan closed at 5 pm on Monday 17th December 2018.

After 5 years of following the developments of the Local Plan we were never sure if or when this day would come but here we are.  But its not over yet!

The expectation is that Basildon Council will forward the Local Plan, plus all of the responses that we have submitted, to the Planning Inspector in January 2019.  This will be followed by an Examination In Public where the Inspector will decide if the plan passes the primary tests of soundness and can therefore be adopted.  If not, as we strongly hope, the Inspector could ask for changes or even for Basildon Council to think again. We should know the outcome by next summer, so a frustrating further 6 month or so to wait. We will keep you posted.

Many thanks to all our supporters

As we reach the end of 2018 we would like to say a big thank you to all residents that have supported us over the years, joined us on drop-in days, came to our clinics & delivered leaflets, but above all we would like to thank those that took time to respond to the public consultation. It is difficult to know for sure, but we believe several hundred concerned residents of Billericay made the effort and that will clearly show the Planning Inspector that we are not happy with the plan as proposed by Basildon Council. We will hopefully influence some positive changes.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the BAG Committee.  We will be back next year!
