We have studied the Government’s Planning for the Future proposals released last month, plus associated proposals to change the planning system, and have written a summary article that can be found here;
Planning For The Future
We consider that the proposed reforms will do little to benefit local communities or address the housing crisis. We also feel that many of the ideas will actually make matters worse in terms of excessive development, harm to the environment and excluding local people from having a rightful say in what gets built. There is still a lack of clarity on whether the Green Belt will remain protected.
But the reforms will certainly make it easier for developers to get access to land and planning approvals!
There are two consultations that are open to the public with deadlines of the 1 and 29 October so there is still time to respond. Details are in the article.
