Local Plan Structure

It is important to understand the structure of the Local Plan to make it easier when responding to the Regulation 19 public consultation.
The Local Plan consists of two core documents;

1. The published Local Plan - details all the elements of the plan over about 300 pages (you don't have to read it all, we will extract the salient bits on this page!) but to see the full document Click Here (opens as a pdf file)
2. The Policies Map - shows the location of all development sites in the borough. To look at the map Click Here (opens as a pdf file)

It is not essential that you read or study any more than those two documents but you may want to dig deeper to help understand or explore a matter of personal interest. With regard to the Regulation 19 public consultation response, we expect the Council to ask for comments to be referenced to one of the following;

• A paragraph - each paragraph in the Local Plan is numbered
• A Policy - each element of the plan is defined in a numbered Policy. Paragraphs can sit with in a Policy.
• The Policies Map

The example on the right shows Policy H5 and the numbered paragraphs within it.
We will post the Policies relevant to the development sites in Billericay on our website shortly.
Not all Policies refer to housing sites, others cover matters such as Employment, Travellers, Transport, Health, Green Belt etc. We will highlight any that we feel are especially pertinent to Billericay.
